Solar & battery for Dairy

Milking happens before dawn and after dusk. That's the single hardest load shape for solar on its own.

Two peaks a day, and both of them are in the dark.

It comes down to the load shape

Typical profile

Twice-daily peaks either side of daylight — vacuum pumps, vat refrigeration and hot water.

Dairies run a load pattern almost perfectly out of phase with solar generation. The morning milking starts before sunrise and the evening one runs past sunset, and each brings vacuum pumps, plate coolers, vat refrigeration and a large hot-water demand for plant washing.

That doesn't make solar a poor investment here — vat refrigeration and water heating continue through the day, and those can be shifted deliberately into daylight hours. But it does mean a design that ignores the timing will underperform, and it makes storage and load-shifting central rather than optional.

Hot water deserves separate attention. Dairy plant washing is a substantial thermal load and heat pump hot water can cut it hard, with VEEC support toward the cost.

Both milking peaks fall outside daylight — timing drives the design

How we work

Feasibility, ROI, approvals, then install

Every project starts with your actual interval data rather than an assumption about your sector. The pattern above is where we start looking, not what we conclude.

Turnkey project management

From feasibility studies and system design through to grid connection approvals and compliance — we manage every stage.

Grid compliance & DNSP approvals

Expert navigation of the regulatory frameworks, working directly with Distribution Network Service Providers.

Network & retailer collaboration

We work with energy retailers and embedded network operators to ensure smooth integration into energy markets.

In-house servicing & warranty

We handle all warranties in-house, with our own technicians providing ongoing maintenance and long-term support.
